[Gen 13:12] Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.
The life of Lot is well known to us but when did he go wrong for the first time? Probably the decision to break the fellowship from the most godly person of his time, Abram.
In verse 10, it is mentioned that the place which he had chosen looked like the garden of God which deceived Lot. In verse 13, it says the land was possessed by evil men. Here Lot was in a battle of making choice. Despite of the evil company, he decided to move in with his family which looked pleasing to the world but displeasing to God.We read here that Lot pitched his tent towards Sodom and gradually moved it nearer and nearer to Sodom until he ended up in Sodom!

Brethren, let us check our hidden motives and desires of our heart. Do we commit the same mistake as Lot? Where are we pitching out tents to? Is it towards entertainment, fashion, pubs or parties? If you are looking to go away from God, remember Devil arranges the first cab for you!
Let us follow the example of Abram who showed the way of self denial and conquered the lust of flesh, eyes and pride. This man worked out peace with Lot and bible says blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God (Mt 5:9). In verse 18 it says, "Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the LORD". Abram pitched his tent towards God's will and ended up in ultimate worship which was a sweet aroma for the Lord.
Even the smallest decision which you commit today, can affect the direction of your spiritual journey..
